Town of Pulteney Historian Report

August 2009

I am still working with the cemetery records. I have been in touch with Helen Brink. We can't seem to make

an appointment with Applebees to see the cemetery on their property. We'll wait until haying season is over and

try again.

Dave Clancy came to look over the cemetery. He said he can only fix certain stones by tipping them back up

and pouring new bases where needed. The charge will be $40.00 per stone. Some will need to be done by

Nielson in Penn Yan because the repair is more than Mr Clancy can do. If we could fix 50 stones per year, it

would take about 2 years at an approximate cost of $2,000.00 per year for what Mr Clancy can do. Because

this is one of the prominent first cemeteries in the town, I would hope that it can be done quickly before more

damage happens. After Mr Clancy does what he can do, then we could discuss with Neilson Monument Co.

what they could do for us. After this cemetery is finished, I would hope we can do other ones, so in the end, all

cemeteries are fixed and kept in repair. I feel that it would be prudent to allocate an annual amount for this

purpose. Our cemeteries are a large part of our history.

In last month's report, I stated that there were about 50 pictures to do for the " Military Wall". In reality, there

are approximately 75 pictures that we have at this point. Phyllis would like to have this finished by Election Day.

Next, we have to decide how to attach the frames to the cork board.

I finally have internet access.  YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Next------------a printer-------------!!

On July 14th, a lady stopped in to say she loved the new playground and re-furbished tennis courts and

wanted to say "Thank You" .

Requests for the Town of Pulteney Historian 2009

August 2009

I have had a couple of e-mails from Leona Jensen in Penn Yan regarding information on Sodom, and a stone

house down on the lake that is for sale. It has a plaque that says "Lake House established 1864"  I need to do

more research before I can respond.
