Town of Pulteney Historian Report

January 2010
A new year has begun. I now have a printer, copier, fax combination. The copier portion has been tested and
works. The printer needs to be hooked up so the computer knows it's there. It will be wonderful to be able to
print from the computer instead of e-mailing files to my home for printing.

I still have the Glenview cemetery records to put on a spreadsheet for the Town Clerk this year. Also, I would
like to do some kind of display involving our old school houses.
I also would like to organize the cupboards and files so we have a better sense of what kind of information we
have to work with.  All of this takes a lot of time to do.
I'm still working on the Pierce request. I hope to get it finished next week.
In the newspaper January 3, 1895  South Pulteney News:
Mrs Betsy Lyon is visiting her daughter on Bluff Point.
G A Beers is able to be out once more.
Mrs E G Ball and two daughters are on the sick list.
Bessie Lyon visited her cousin Myra Retan last week.
Mrs Harry Mills and daughters are spending a few weeks with friends in Bath and Wheeler.
Mr Scott of Rochester is visiting his daughter, Mrs S B Lyon.
Mrs Gibson Clark and daughter Ella are visiting at her parents.
James Geen from Baltimore medical college is spending a few days with J H Gibson's family.
Mabel McAdams of Bath spent New Year's with G A Arnold's family.

Requests for the Town of Pulteney Historian 2010
I have had a call regarding Uriel Chapin, the first Supervisor from the Town of Pulteney, from a relative who
lives in Hammondsport. I will call him back to work with him on his inquiry.
I had a visit from Mrs David Pizura regarding any information on the Anna Egresi farm & house. I couldn't
tell her much. On the 1873 map, it looks like it was owned by Bela Bonney. Before they do any renovations,
they were wondering about it being an historical landmark. She had heard a story that when the cattle drives.
went by, they would stop and stay overnight because it was an inn at that time. I have no knowledge of it's
history.
Donations given to Town of Pulteney 2010
Alise Irwin gave a monetary donation to the Pulteney Town Historian to keep the work going to honor the
memory of Phyllis Peek. That's why I'm hoping to do some sort of project involving the schools. That is
something that meant a lot to Phyllis. The framed picture of "Supervisors in the 1900's" and the "Military Wall"
were completions of Phyllis's work.
Response: I sent a thank you note to Alise Irwin. I also sent an e-mail to the family of Phyllis Peek and also
sent a note of acknowledgment to Thelma Peek as requested.
