Town of Pulteney Historian Report
June 2011
As most of you know, I haven’t been able to give a Historian’s Report since December of 2010. I was helping out with the bookkeeping until a replacement for Helen Coombs was hired. My father also passed away during this time so this it the first opportunity I’ve had to resume the monthly report.
The Glenview Cemetery records are almost half done. I’m working on Lot #198 out of about 451 lots. Each lot has 6 graves except the walkways. As you can see, there is a lot of work left to do. The Steuben County Census is done through “O”. Only 11 more alphabetical letters to go !!! I’m assuming that “Q”, “U”, and “X” are going to be very small and “R”, “S”, “T”, and “W” are going to be huge !!!!!!
The genealogical requests have been quite steady. I have helped people with information or lack of it for the families of Drew, Ellis, Haire, Holley, Pickett, Retan, Searles, Snyder, St John, and Weber. I may have forgotten some over the past 5 months.
I have contacted Mark Wright to do the Military Wall rails out in the hall. I believe Tim Akers was too busy to be able to do it. The additions to the Military Wall since my last report of December 2010 are Chad Alfano, Matthew Nesbit, L Edward Nudd, Walter Daggett, and Mark Wright. I have ordered 54 more frames from Dollar General because our supply of 100 originally ordered is dwindling and I expect to get more pictures once they are displayed out in the hall.

Requests for the Town of Pulteney Historian
June 2011
I have had a request for a picture of the Holley Sprayer from Fred Holley. He is Bob Holley’s son. I don’t believe the Town has one. He is putting Bob’s pictures of the Memorial Day Parades on disc and will send us one when he’s finished.
Donations given to Town of Pulteney
June 2011
Nora Drew and her husband from Pennsylvania stopped in today to do research on the Drew and Retan families. She gave a donation of $10.00 to the Town. She also gave a family tree record to put in the “Drew” file.
I received a call from Floyd Holley of Savannah, Georgia. He was requesting information on the Holleys. I sent him a copy of the patent for the Holley Sprayer and a picture of Herbert Ebenezer Holley.
I receivbed a call from Marla White of Sutherlin, Oregon. She is researching the Ellis and White families. Because our records only go back to about 1888, there is very little I can help her with. The Ellis and White families lived here ata the time of the 1810 census. I will e-mail her what I have. She is going to e-mail me what she has on these families so I can make files for them.
